Canon XM2 broken Zoom Handle
I own a Canon XM2 since the release of this camera model. But some time ago the zoom starts to move slowly around by itself - and finally it stopped to work totally. As the guarantee time was allready over I decided to look for the problem myself. I knew that the zoom control on the handle was still ok, so I was quite sure that the problem is inside the zoom control itself.
A big advantage of the XM2 is that everything is mounted together with screws, so its quite easy to disassemble.
After many screws I found the source of the problem - the plastic wire connecting the zoom grip with the electronic board inside the cassette door seams to be broken.

Bingo!. So, I putted a bypass wire to see, if it solves the problem - and it did, the zoom was perfect again.

I ordered the original spare part at a canon service company - the part itself was quite cheap, 20€, but I had to pay 30€ for transport and small order fee ;-(. But now the camera is as good as new.
